Rand-Emonium Software has released version 2.7.4 of the 8-bit Apple // build pipeline for Xcode. The build pipeline still supports AppleSoft BASIC, Merlin assembly and cc65 based projects. With this updated version, cc65 has been updated from 2.17 to the latest version, 2.19. More importantly, the cc65 tools are now ARM native. So, the C compiler, assembler, linker, etc will run without x86 emulation on a modern M-series Mac.
With the end of support for x86 executables coming in a future version of macOS, these updates will ensure that the Xcode build tools for 8-bit Apple //’s continue to work. Because some of the best uses for Apple’s latest hardware is to build software for its best hardware. Apple // Forever.
